Best recipe for Pizza dough

    The best pizza dough you will ever need is an easy recipe that you can make ahead. This dough can be frozen and store for a month. Classic pizza dough is never missing from my fridge since I like to make my pizza. It’s quite common in Italy to go to the restaurant, on your way back from work, and buy pizza dough. In this way, you go home, place it in the tray, add the toppings, bake, and done.
    If you are like me and don’t live in Italy but still want some freshly made Pizza dough, you can use this recipe. It’s easy to make, and you will have the dough for about six medium pizzas. If it’s too much, you can also place it in the freezer, and in the morning, when you go for work, just take one out and place it in the fridge. In this way, when you arrive home, you can have a pizza in the oven in no time.


    You will need the following ingredients:

    • 1 kg of Pizza flour (type 000) (8 cups)
    • 650 ml of Lukewarm water (2 and 2/3 cups)
    • 14 g of dried yeast (5 tsp)
    • 1 tablespoon of salt
    • 1 tablespoon of sugar
    • 4 tablespoon of olive oil

    In a bowl place the water, sugar, oil and the dry yeast. You have to wait for about 5 minutes for the yeast to become active.

    Take a big bowl and add the flour together with the salt and mix it. Then make a hole into the middle and add the water mix. Start mixing and incorporating the flour slowly. At the beginning use a fork and when the dough is hard enough use your clean flour-dusted hands. Take the dough out of the bowl and place it on a flour-dusted surface and knead it for around 5 minutes. In the end you should have a smooth and springy dough

    Place the dough in a flour-dusted bowl, flour the top, cover it and place it in a warm room until it’s double in size. It should take around 1 h.

    Next step is to place back the dough on the flour-dusted surface and to knead it for another minute. Now you have to decide. Make it right away, so you will make around 6 balls of it which can be rolled or if you want to do it later place it in the fridge (or freezer for days later).

    When you want to have your pizza just roll the dough, add the toppings, and then into the oven.
