Broccoli sausages casserole

Broccoli sausages casserole is that one recipe you need to add to your weekly meal prep recipes. Using leftover grilled sausages, tasty melted cheese, and delicious broccoli, you will repeat this recipe more than once. All you need is some oven proof dishes. You can make this directly into serving dishes if they are oven proof.

I have 2 red dishes of similar size home and I am using them for different casseroles. You will see them in different recipes and I find them very practically in the kitchen. They are just the right size for a serving, so from the oven it goes directly on the table. Beside the casseroles, this oven dishes are also very useful for deserts. I love to use them for baking different deserts too. You can check my Blackberry Crisp recipe here. In conclusion if you don’t have one, it’s a must to buy it!

Whenever I need to cook something and don’t feel like it, I just whip a casserole with whatever I have in the fridge and freezer. I prefer using frozen broccoli for this recipe. It unfreezes in the oven and keeps it’s vibrant green color. And then you can’t go wrong with sausages and cheese.
We used some leftover sausages from the day before, but you can use any slightly smoked sausages.

The idea behind using froze broccoli is that this will defrost during cooking and leave some water on the bottom of the casserole. The water will then start boiling and will cook the broccoli with the steam that it produces. In this way you don’t get a dry broccoli, but a nice moist one with a vibrant green color. At the end of the cooking process just throw out the excess water.
