A blog about a passion - cooking passion
Some weeks ago, we made two lovely vegan cauliflower recipes: Vegan Cauliflower Hot Wings and Crispy Panko Cauliflower Wings.

It is really surprising how versatile cauliflower is. You can use it as a side dish to pretty much any kind of steak or for a pizza dough alternative. You can even make vegan hot wings.
This recipe goes well with ranch sauce, mayonnaise, or any sauce you like. If you want it to be vegan, choose a vegan sauce. And the best part is that you can find cauliflower all year round!

As for the recipe, it’s simple and healthy since you don’t need to fry anything. Anything baked is healthier than fried. If you have an air fryer, you can use that instead of a conventional oven, just make sure to adjust your time and temperature.
Prepare the cauliflower wings
Cut the cauliflower in individual florets, like the size of a chicken wing. You don’t need them to be too small, but you will also need them to be small enough to get the right consistency.

In a bowl mix some flour, paprika, sliced pepper, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Optional, you can add hot pepper flakes and a small teaspoon of garlic.

Mix them with some water or vegan milk and you will get a thick dough, that you can coat your cauliflower wings into. Choose unsweetened milk, you will get a better flavor.

Then, place them on a tray on parchment paper and bake them for 25 minutes or until crisp at 200 degrees Celsius (392°Fahrenheit).

After the first 10 minutes, you can remove them from the oven and put some barbeque sauce on them. Bake them for the remaining time, until golden brown.

Serve them hot with your preferred choice of dip sauce.
The cauliflowers have a chewy, meaty texture that makes them an excellent vegan alternative to chicken wings. It is so good you can just use it for diversity to a nice family meal or movie night.

Try a gluten-free version
If you want this recipe to be gluten-free, replace the flour with chickpea flour. The taste will be the same.
It’s a great recipe for vegans, or for fasting/Lent. Just because you don’t eat meat does not mean you need to give up taste. There are numerous great vegan recipes that are just as good as their counterparts. Just let your creativity fly and use whatever spices you love the most. You will get interesting recipes.

Vegan cauliflower wings alternatives
Another frequently asked question is if you need panko for vegan hot wings. We do not recommend it, to be honest. We also have a panko recipe for vegan cauliflower wings that will be soon featured on our blog. But if you want hot barbeque vegan cauliflower wings, don’t use panko. Try our recipe, you will have yummy sticky vegan cauliflower wings with minimum effort.
